‘Desert Trash’ is the title track from Mija’s upcoming album of the same name. Citing the likes of Jay Som, Hazel English and Day Wave as influences on her songwriting, Mija is sitting on a wealth of exciting music that she combines to create into her eclectic, nostalgic and stunningly produced releases. This track is playful, with tuned percussion supporting her airy voice (which presents itself in both catchy, central melodies and bouncy backing samples), big drum sounds and an intentional lo-fi crackle that adds to an almost eerie texture. “Life is a movie directed by people you know” is just one of the lyrics that prove her to be much more than a unique composer, but a brilliant wordsmith too.
