MENTRIX NATURE

Sufi-inspired singer and composer Mentrix announced her debut album My Enemy, My Love with its evocative lead track 'Walk' just a matter of weeks ago to a wave of positive press. Returning with another pristine combination of authentic Iranian percussion and spectral vocal work, 'Nature' speaks to the human experience, as she warns "We all have a nature that hunts us We all have a nature that harms us, if we let it". Picking up the pace around 1 minute 30, an infectious beat kicks in, fashioned from instinctive clicks, claps and visceral drum strikes played on traditional Iranian Daf drums, which are intrinsically linked with Iran's musical heritage. Arriving alongside another extraordinary video directed by Gilles Esteve, the clip was filmed in the breathtaking landscapes of Kavir-e-Lut, in eastern Iran; a wild desert landscape rarely seen and known to be one of the hottest places on earth. Intended as celebration of life in an almost lifeless setting, it's a truly stunning watch. -Holly Mullineaux
