MATT MALTESE JUPITER

South London pianist and vocalist Matt Maltese has moved towards a synth-pop production in his new single ‘Jupiter' - his first release since his debut album Bad Contestant in 2018. The combination of kitsch 80's lead synth lines, and Matt's falsetto harmonies hint at artists like Sean Nicholas Savage. This new single is in keeping with Matt's usual emotive melodies, but this time round, is hit with a new-found catchiness in lines like "I need you like a fire needs a log, Jupiter couldn't keep me from you, Oh I'm yours". With production aid from Vegyn, the song features muted live drums and layered synth sounds sparkle, waver, carried by a constant mellow organ sound. 'Jupiter' is the first single to emerge from his album Krystal, marking a development in Matt Maltese's production style. The album is due on 8th November via 7476 and accompanied by a November headline tour. -Ellie Rose-Davies
