M.T. HADLEY FUNES

One of the things we like most about mystery man M.T. Hadley, other than his sparklingly well-blended soul, pop and psych-rock songs, is that he absolutely refuses to be rushed. Some two years on from his debut song 'It Hurts' - he was going by the name creeper back then - the London-based artist has dropped his second song, the smooth-as-fuck 'Funes'. Drawing on LA Priest's strobing pop, Tame Impala's dancefloor psych-funk, and How To Dress Well's falsetto soul, M.T. has composed a low-key banger, driven along by yearning keys and chunky beat patterns, which feels both grounded in the present day and reflective of the glory days of synthpop. We're already brimming with anticipation over 2017's comeback track. - DC
