The debut single ‘Love Bites’ from Brixton’s LOOP begins with shimmers and waves of Dummy-era Portishead, before building into a polished pop track. Beneath its shiny surface, however, lurks a subtle dubstep bass line and a haunting, almost sinister beat, giving the track a dark tone. Her ethereal, melancholy-filled vocals drip delicately over this landscape, creating something as intriguing as her to-date elusive online presence. We can’t wait for LOOP to step out of the shadows, and give us more tracks like this. – EF
