LEWSBERG COLD LIGHT OF DAY

Sitting somewhere between the early art-rock of The Modern Lovers and the wiry rock'n'roll guitar riffs of The Rolling Stones, rising Rotterdam residents Lewsberg sound like they could have plucked straight from 1972. There's a charming understated-ness to the band's latest single 'Cold Light of Day', which sets driving rhythms against Arie van Vliet's half-spoken vocals as he matter-of-factly questions the world around us. The track's simple yet effective vocal hook: "Up and away in the cold light of day", gains traction with the help of backing vocals from bassist Shalita Dietrich before giving way to a perhaps unexpected guitar solo that see's the track through to the end. -Holly Mullineaux
