KRUSH PUPPIES PETALHEAD

Opening with a wailing, lo-fi guitar squeal, thudding bass line and washy ascending rhythm part, 'PetalHead' is a no-frills introduction to newly-formed South London grunge enthusiasts Krush Puppies. Quickly joined by simplistic drumming and an all-important shaker, 'PetalHead' blurs the border between the grittiness of the 90s and the sassiness of the 00s, with singer Jenny's cooly-delivered R&B inspired vocals making an appearance around the 50 second mark. Discussing the inspiration behind the track Jenny explained, “‘Petalhead’ is for my twin sister. She was feeling a long stretch of joylessness, as we both do sometimes - she lives in Mexico but I could feel her lack of spirit and wanted to send her a positive charm of some kind to connect us because I couldn't be with her.” The new Babelogue signees (home of Yassassin) will celebrate the track's physical release via Flying Vinyl later this month, with a headline show at the Brixton Windmill on the 26th of July. -Holly Mullineaux
