Former Mothers member Kristine Leschper has announced her intriguingly titled new album The Opening, Or Closing Of A Door with a charming self-directed video for its spellbinding lead single 'Ribbon'. Instantly creating a warm yet surreal ambience, vintage Casio organ sounds swell through the centre of the mix as a fizzier lead line comes in and out prominence. Tickly drum and percussion elements add movement to the atmospheric slow-burner, building as the composition becomes more complex. Leschper's vocals are enviably idiosyncratic, ethereal and commanding, folky yet firm all at once. Lyrically captivating, “‘Ribbon’ is a love song that holds a certain tension" according to Leschper. "It is the taut line of attempting to read the intentions of another, built with imagery of opposing materialities: a knife meets a ribbon, asking for a kind of vulnerability.
