KOJEY RADICAL AFTER WINTER

“Wait 'til you see the next visuals...” warned Hoxton-born spoken word artist Kojey Radical in closing his freestyle ‘Look Like’ for Colors Berlin. Released yesterday; the visuals to accompany his latest track ‘AFTER WINTER’ certainly do not disappoint. Produced by JFC Worldwide, the video starkly reflects the issues discussed lyrically in his rapping - specifically focusing on the supposed invasion and appropriation of inner London and its suggested reclamation by those who grew up there. The menacing bassline line of the track teamed with eerie horns back Kojey’s unique spoken word which broaches themes of gentrification, culture and his own blackness in typically beautiful form. A follow-up to his first album 23 Winters released early last year, ‘AFTER WINTER’ is the precursor single to his latest project IN GOD’S BODY set to release in September. You can catch Kojey Radical and his band performing live in London, Bristol and Manchester throughout October with more dates to be added over summer. -CN
