KITA ALEXANDER LIKE YOU WANT TO

We may have missed out on covering Aussie wunderkind Kita Alexander's debut track first time around, but that doesn't mean we haven't been spinning 'My Own Way' pretty much daily since we discovered it five months back. Her second cut 'Like You Want To' dropped online overnight and it's somehow even more immediately loveable than its predecessor. Without ladling too much pressure on the youngster, there's a contemporary Fleetwood Mac undercurrent flowing throughout: Kita's timeless, swooning vocal, the atmospheric drumming, the breezily picked guitar riffs. It's all there. Granted, 'Like You Want To' does sail pretty close to Haim's interpretation of the Mac, but it doesn't stray directly into their overtly poppy territory, retaining a coolness and charm that's very much Kita's own. We're besotted all over again. - DC
