L.A producer and jazz-house artisan Channel Tres has dropped a spicy remix of American pop queen King Princess' track 'Hit The Back'. Last year, Tres released some stand-out singles including a remix of Tyler, The Creator's 'EARFQUAKE',  and 'BLACK MOSES' ft. JPEGMAFIA - the lead single from the EP BLACK MOSES, which highlights the essence and quality of Channel Tres' output to date. The art of a remix is re-imagination and re-interpretation - Channel Tres' version of 'Hit The Back' certainly hits the nail on the head (as well as the back). The new version is almost unrecognisably a remix of another song as it takes a turn in a different sonic field, with a fresh sentiment. There's a shuffling house beat that's expertly built from the ground up. The bass drum satisfyingly comes in with the the bass, carrying a similar groove to the original track but with a deeper, more funky tone. Princess' vocals are pitched lower, sounding like a male voice, repeating the line "dirty girl with lots of passion". Tres uses samples of breath, as well as jazz chords on electric piano, delayed vocal snippets and mellow synths to create fluidity and texture. 'Hit The Back' is going to transport you to a sweaty Detroit dance floor with its undoubtedly flirtatious and cloudless vibes. -Ellie Rose-Davies
