KIKAGAKU MOYO DRIPPING SUN

Japan's space-rockers Kikagaku Moyo never fail to take us on a psychedelic sonic adventure. With their fourth studio album Masana Temples arriving on the 5th of October, it's time to strap in for 'Dripping Sun'. The explorative 8-minute epic begins with a trippy combination of hypnotic bass and worldy, wah-infused guitar lines that are quickly kicked in to touch with the arrival of a super-compressed Tame Impala-esque drum beat. Dropping right down around the 2-minute mark, there's room for singer/drummer Go Kurosawa's delicately-delivered Japanese vocals to shine through before escalating to a jazzy funk-inspired intersection followed by an exotic guitar solo and the inevitable wig out, which hits around 6 minutes 20. If you want to witness the spectacle of Kikagaku Moyo in the flesh, you can catch them at London's Scala on the 8th of November or Manchester's Gorilla on the 7th. -Holly Mullineaux
