JOVIALE STRUGGLE CUDDLE

Following a North London show at the artsy New River Studios, jazz and indie collide, hybridising in a unique kind of neo-soul, on Londoner Joviale’s first EP. Jangly, Smiths-sounding guitar hits, tambourine and vocals that shimmer and waver paint the layered canvas of ‘Struggle Cuddle’ - the first track off the EP. All the instrumentation is percussive apart from Joviale's vocals and a synth part that accompanies breezily, whilst her harmonies are off-beat in both senses of the word. ‘Struggle Cuddle’ doesn’t fit into a conventional song structure or soundscape and its as refreshing as the morning’s first sip of water. -Ellie Rose Davies
