Eclectic electro-pop enthusiast Jerskin Fendrix has announced details of his debut album Winterreise with an obscenely catchy new single 'A Star Is Born'. Nonchalantly throwing reference to everyone from Nick Cave to Shame, Puccini and Wim Wenders, it's clear that Fendrix draws influence from a huge pool of knowledge. There's a lot to unpack on a 'Star Is Born', from the irritatingly catchy synth hook that dominates the first half of the track, to the bombastic digital beats and unapologetically ravey drops. Reaching peak tongue-in-cheek in the pre-chorus, which comes back around as an ironically dramatic breakdown at the end, Fendrix mocks, "Call the fire service, cos I'm on fire, call my Icarus, I'm getting higher and higher". Winterreise will be released by untitled records on the 17th of April. -Holly Mullineaux
