We've been long time supporters of Californian bedroom-pop producer Jay Som aka Melina Duterte here at TMR. Having rinsed all her tunes from 2017's '1 Billion Dogs' to last year's one off anti-love anthem 'Hot Bread', we were more than a little excited by the announcement of her new album Anak Ko. Taking a more obviously-inspired Brit Pop route on lead single 'Superbike', a sea of jangly guitars wash over direct drum beats and an intricate bass groove before taking a darker turn and going full on My Bloody Valentine Loveless at the end. Fitting the genre perfectly, Duterte's sugary vocals provide a crucial melodic lift that'll have you singing along in no time. Anak Ko will arrive on the 23rd of August. -Holly Mullineaux
