Toronto six-piece Jaunt have spent the last three years recording their debut album, All In One, which reflects the growth of this band which started out as a casual project between friends. When they initially released their Chat EP back in 2016 they couldn’t have predicted that it would lead to them becoming a local sensation. Bringing it up to the present and we have on our hands a fantastic second single from the upcoming album, engineered by none other than BADBADNOTGOOD’s drummer Alex Sowinski. ‘Delighted To Be Spoken To’ is a song about resisting self-pity by developing a practice of gratitude for the fleeting, simple, joyful details of life. Certainly the track is a light slice of subtly electric, dreamy and playful improvisation. The layers of funk, psychedelia, wooze and alt-pop create an intricate atmosphere that gently brushes the edges of our minds, transporting us to a peaceful space. The accompanying video co-directed by Pia Perez and Sylvain Chaussée of Toronto filmmaking and production house tranquilo Productions visually reflects that sentiment as our eyes are led to focus on the simple actions captured through the camera lens. As a parting note, we say that Jaunt’s ‘Delighted To Be Spoken To’ is an absolute joy and we can’t wait to hear more from the album before its release on April 16th. - Hannah Thacker
