THE JAPANESE HOUSE STILL

It's not often that a new artist is plucked from obscurity and plonked directly onto the mainstream's radar via a spot play on Radio 1 - but that's exactly what happened with The Japanese House's debut track 'Still'.

The nineteen-year-old newcomer will forever have the distinction of being Zane Lowe's last ever Hottest Record in the World, and if the Kiwi hadn't jumped ship to Apple, you could bet your house on this mysterious, extra-talented artist getting even more of his plaudits. 'Still' is deep pop, in every sense of the term; thoughtful, ghostly and richly layered with synths, pitch-shifted vox and kindling-snap beats. Nothing short of breathtakingly beautiful. - DC
