Hugo Valentine’s ‘Memories’ is the third single from the upcoming jazzy pop talent. A hazy, raw vocal is the centrepiece of this tune, drawing clear similarities to the likes of Jamie Cullum. Beneath the voice is a delicate, jazzy accompaniment with dancey piano lines flirting with a tight drum pattern and some subtle sustained strings. The chorus is a powerful singalong full of soulful backing vocals that demonstrates a maturity of songwriting far past what you’d expect from a newcomer.
