HUDSON SCOTT GET DOWN

Effortlessly making the switch from backing musician to sublime artist in his own right, is Oxford’s Hudson Scott. Mr. Scott already has quite the impressive CV. From playing live trumpets for Foals and Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, to playing bass (and trumpets) for well-loved Oxford band Jonquil - and even before that, keys and more brass for Oxford legends, Youthmovies - it’s not a major surprise Hudson Scott’s always had it in him. His new single Get Down’ is a supreme example of what he’s capable of on his own. It follows his recently released Clay EP, which arrived earlier this year, and it’s another irrepressibly addictive alt-pop track, crammed full of pillowy 80s synth pads and agile vocal turns delivered with the confidence of a man who’s been in this game for a while. Scott’s next movements will see him popping into the studio to see producer Rodaidh McDonald (The xx, Låpsley) who will oversee the creation of his next body of work which is getting us very excited indeed. -JC
