Considering this is their first new music in three years, Happyness has come out all guns blazing with the impressive ‘Vegetable’. The track is a noisy piece of alt-rock that combines a laid-back tempo with grumbling distortion and a powerful sense of experimentation that allows them to place an acoustic guitar break amongst moments of squealing feedback. The tune follows on from a uniquely difficult time for members of the band and sees them each in new positions in life. Founding member Ash Kenazi now performs in drag, stating “drag is actually quite punk, in the 70s and 80s, drag elements were so important to quite a few artists”.
