HAND HABITS CAN'T CALM DOWN

The second single from Hand Habits (aka Meg Duffy) has been a long time coming. Written over a 3 year period of changing emotional states, the final version of ‘can’t calm down’ was certainly worth the wait. Ticking over with a super-slow krautrock beat and supporting guitar strums, Duffy’s lyrics glide effortlessly above the mix. Expressing a fear of genetically inherited behaviours she asks, “What if I can’t calm down and I don’t have that in my bloodline?”. With her well-honed guitar skills making an appearance for an impressive yet understated solo around the 2 minute mark, ‘can’t come down’ is easily Hand Habits most accomplished work to date and we can’t wait to hear more. -Holly Mullineaux
