Hana Vu brings a bright and interesting sound to the dreamy pop space she occupies. ‘Outside’ centres on her lead vocal, demonstrating her jump between airy, delicate vocal lines and the almost punky shouts the track sometimes moves towards. Underneath all this, reversed guitar lines and fizzy synths provide a unique, complimentary texture. Directed by Peter Ferris Rosati, the track’s music video shows Vu playing guitar in a variety of hazy locations, with subtle animations adding an artist vibe to the end product.
