HÅN 1986

Earlier this year, Italian newcomer HÅN emerged from the rural setting of Lake Garda to the expanse of the Internet with chilling debut ‘The Children’. Easily comparable to dark-pop aficionados Daughter on their first release, the 20-year-old artist ventures into lighter territory with sophomore single ‘1986’. The overall effect is still very much of belonging to that original dream world, but it flits between airy synths and overlapping dance-y beats throughout. As HÅN promises, '1986’ is really very different from the rest of the upcoming EP, due to the high energy production and yet it evokes that feeling of losing yourself to the music. This is leads into the song’s repeated question, "why are you still there if there's no one to please you?", which HÅN explains for us: “Even if reasons are opposite, both sides are stuck in the same situation of misery and what they lack is the action to leave. The song is not just a personal tale, but also a sort of reflection of what I have seen around me, there are elements that recur in the most of relationships and they're at the heart of them. 1986 is the year my parents met." - HT
