HAIKU HANDS JUPITER

There’s very few success stories that draw a parallel to the one of Haiku Hands, who appeared seemingly out of nowhere last year with the pulsating, rave-inspired dance track ‘Not About You’. The Australian group are now due to make an appearance at several festivals in their home country and at The Great Escape next month, so while keeping things still very much under wraps, Haiku Hands give a sense of their diversity with new single ‘Jupiter’. Like their debut, there's nostalgia for bygone parties, though not illegal ‘90s raves, but '70s disco dance floors, glitter ball hanging overhead. From the off, you’ll be itching to move along to the punchy rhythm and grooving bassline, encouraged by Haiku Hands’ unrelenting confidence in more fantastic lyrics - “straight jacket life we rip it off / let yourself be free / wake up the night, you be the boss / now come follow me.” As much as it’s a homage to the heyday of funk, ‘Jupiter’ also feels super fresh, lifted by production contributions by Joelistics, Jayteehazard and Hermitude's El Gusto and the group’s sing-a-long sensibility. - Hannah Thacker
