LIST PICK

GRIEFJOY VIRUS

Having been playlisted by Beats1 with previous effort "Why Wait", Griefjoy have now unveiled the fourth extract from their sophomore LP due 15 April. "Virus", as its name suggests, is an infectious, affecting outing which worms its way along through twitching, industrial production and Hot Chip-esque vocal work. Relentlessly shuddering bass work is joined by spine-rumbling synths before cold electronic percussion clicks the action along like a haunting metronome. The hushed vocals which provide the cut's refrain roll out like a desperate cry for help, as the heavy FX bring the likes of Flume's work with Chet Faker to mind. The stylish French four are proving not all viruses are unwanted. -G.O'B
