GOTTS STREET PARK FT. ZILO BAD

Leeds-based collective Gotts Street Park have worked with plenty of talented artists such as Kali Uchis, Reggie Snow and Celeste. The result is a modestly formulated, down-beat R&B that’s woven together with incredible musicianship. This hip-hop delight ‘Bad’ features London based R&B singer Zilo, who’s vocals are marble-smooth, channelling a classic 90’s sound. The chilled out wah bass is driving the song, and resembles that of Sylvia Striplin’s 1981 funk pinnacle ‘You Can’t Turn Me Away’. Retro sounding strings are stretched out across the track, adding to the style which is self-described as ‘smackie soul’ – both lazy and sharp in all the right places. -Ellie Rose Davies
