Aussie songwriter Gordi deals almost exclusively in emotionally smart indie-pop ballads that develop and soar. Our first introduction to the Sydney native, 'Taken Blame', blossomed into a beautifully sensitive paean from folksy roots, and new track, 'Can We Work It Out' follows in a similar vein, with acoustic guitars snapping alongside gunshot tom toms initially, before uplifting synths carry Gordi's pitch-altered tones through the middle-eight to a warming climax. It's a typically understated effort from one of our favourite new artists Down Under. - DC
