Spaced-out Australian pop-funk maestros GL are back with a new single, 'Number One'. The band, formed of silken toned vocalist Ella Thompson and multi-instrumentalist Graeme Pogson, have been rolling out their slick mixture of perfectly saccharine pop, smoothly ebbing funk and analogue electronica over the past year or so, with the Love Hexagon EP a particular standout release to-date. Having hopped onstage with Mark Ronson at Splendour In The Grass festival and spent 12 months tuning up, lead singer Ella's sparkling delivery is at its pristine peak on 'Number One'. A hook-heavy nugget glimmering with punchy synths and neon loops, it's our favourite drop from GL already. - DC
