Manchester based electro-pop duo Girl Friend are taking things up a rather huge notch this week, with their sublime new single ‘Hello Stranger’. A scintillating affair, the brother-sister pair have managed to effortlessly deliver one of the finest synth-pop choruses of the year, incorporating elements of 80’s disco into the cut, too. There’s certainly some talented blood in the Neish-Melling family, as Amory and sister Eleanor have created a song which transcends musical eras, whilst firmly establishing their own distinctive sound. Decorated with ruthlessly addictive synth-lines, and carried elegantly by an excitable disco-touched rhythm section, ‘Hello Stranger’ is without a doubt one of the most promising electro-pop tracks of the year so far.
