It's been four years since the release of Girl Band's debut album Holding Hands With Jamie and despite broad speculation of the band's separation earlier this year, Dublin's most influential noise-makers have made an unexpected yet brilliant return. True to form, comeback track 'Shoulderblades' is another brutal onslaught of abrasive sounds and textures, which grows in intensity as vocalist Dara Kiely's nonsensical lyrics slice their way through the completely controlled chaos. Arriving alongside a deeply-affecting video, which features an incredible albeit unnerving piece of choreographed performance art by Oona Doherty, 'Shoulderblades' is arguably the quartet's darkest and most deranged offering to date. Girl Band's second album The Talkies will be released via Rough Trade on the 27th of September and if you want to catch them live (which we'd highly recommend) you'd better act fast as their recently-announced run of UK dates are sure to sell out. -Holly Mullineaux
