Recent signees to Roll Call Records, Milwaukee band GGOOLLDD are already set to release their new EP, Teeth. We’ll have to wait until December 1st for that gem, but until then our treasure-hunting appetites are met with ‘Excelsior Springs’. It’s grandiose title sets the scene for the lush electronic-pop that’s become the four-piece’s signature style over the past three years. Hinged on an addictive synth melody that meanders up and down the scale alongside consistent drums and Margaret Butler’s lilting voice, ‘Excelsior Springs’ could easily be called a summer anthem. Despite making a September appearance, GGOOLLDD have been sharing this track with audiences at their Wisconsin shows over the warmer months, and perhaps it still pertains some of the warmer months' magic and holiday romance. Like “bourbon in my lemonade,” GGOOLLDD’s ‘Excelsior Springs’ is a sweet dose of summer. - HT
