Over the past few months, we’ve been paying close attention to the 22-year-old Californian musician Garren Sean (fka GARREN) who may be known to the credit perusers out there as the producer who has worked with Chance the Rapper, Joey Purp and Towkio. We’ve previously selected tracks ‘There She Go’ and ‘All U Need’, both of which feature on Garren Sean’s first full length Garren, LP. Following a downtempo, instrumental (well mostly) introduction titled ‘Found’ and a series of funk-laden, R&B-leaning inventions, sixth track ‘Finer Things’ is a prime example of the versatility of this producer-turned-artist. With chunky beats and vibrating synths that have their roots in hip-hop, Garren Sean’s fresh production bubbles up to meet his soulful vocal which woos the listener with promises of “finer things” to come. We’re definitely sure that whatever chases up his debut album will supersede all expectations. - HT
