FREE NATIONALS THE RIVINGTON (FT. CONWAY, WESTSIDE GUNN & JOYCE WRICE)

Having collaborated with a plethora of esteemed artists from Chronixx, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Kali Uhis, and Kadhja Bonet (just to name a few), Free Nationals are a truly eclectic outfit. Their 13-track self-titled debut album has just dropped, which showcases an array of classic and innovative chilled R&B and soul. 'The Rivington' is the last track on the album featuring Conway, Westside Gunn & Joyce Wrice. A kitsch intro with xylophones, funk bass and wah guitar open the song. Conway's wide tone of voice resonates deep and powerfully with his lethargic style of rap. Trumpets, strings and tranquil keys are added, giving an upbeat vibe, whilst Wrice's vocals are lush and succulent, breaking up the two rap verses. Westside Gunn's verse is sharp and energetic, leading into a final chorus, and the outro which is planted in a heavenly funk and groove arrangement, which leaves you feeling undeniably joyful - like waking up to a sunny day on your day off. Check out 'The Rivington' now. -Ellie Rose-Davies
