If you're looking for new music with garage guitars, US DIY label Burger Records is the tastemaker to turn to. It's therefore no surprise that we stumbled upon, and instantly loved, the insanely unique Fletcher C. Johnson, who releases his album Lessons in Tenderness via the label this week. Single 'Wilder Than Me' is what made us initially sit up with its fizzy guitars, infectiously upbeat chorus and the ear-catching vocals of Johnson. To be sure, unusual vocals can truly set you apart from the flock (just look at Jack White) which is certainly the case with Fletcher C. Johnson, who we think has the telling marks of a interesting frontman. We cannot wait to see how it translates live. - SJ
