FLAWES DON'T WAIT FOR ME

London's Flawes are a curious proposition. 'Don't Wait For Me', their debut track only landed on our laps yesterday, and yet the trio are already penciled in for a monster support slot with major big-hitter, Ella Eyre. Something is afoot. Suspend your disbelief though! This doesn't seem like the usual contrived way of introducing a new signing to Warner, in fact, Flawes mainman, Josh Carruthers, is a longtime collaborator of Eyre's - playing keyboards in her live band. In any case, the music is actually rather good, with wistful organic textures and fingerpicked acoustics juxtaposed against sweeping electronics throughout. Carruthers' impassioned crooning steals the show though, pitching somewhere between Oh Wonder Ant's dreamy sigh and the boys from Aquilo's sweet falsettos. Flawes' first EP, UNSPKN, is out 23rd October. - DC
