FAMILY TIME ROOM 301

Family Time are the Spanish, London based duo who have crafted a synth R&B/pop, which lies not too far from that of Silk Rhodes or Homeshake. They have just released a new single 'Room 301', alongside a music video, which looks like it was shot somewhere in Spain. It follows the pair around, as they lip-sink whilst doing a number of activities, such as ride on a mobility scooter alongside a small dog and play pool in an 80s', L.E.D-illuminated bar. The video ties in the kitsch, Spanish and generationally nostalgic nature of their music. A vintage drum machine and jazzy synth chords beat, as a pop vocal comes in. A funky bass line features later on in the tune, adding a substantial groove to the mix. The song is full of vocal melody hooks, and the chorus is undeniably catchy, as the singer tells us "she said she'd only love him with the lights off, well it was only in the dark that she could find love". -Ellie Rose-Davies
