The latest track from London-based newcomer Eve Owen is a reflection on the nature of growing up. It is built on feelings of loneliness and longing, with its distant feeling and intentionally atmospheric, iPhone-shot music video adding to the emotions being portrayed. Writing ‘She Says’ when she was just 14, Owen now describes its origin: “it came from realizing how lucky I am to have my family, and wondering what it would be like if my parents weren’t there for me”. She has lent vocals to The National’s new album and will be on tour in the UK for the next couple of months supporting Hayden Thorpe. - Dan Peeke
