ESMÉ PATTERSON WANTIN' AIN'T GETTIN

Country music isn't a genre that always gets people in the UK excited but Esmé Patterson's modern take on it has done exactly that. With heavy Americana influences, her new quirky sliding guitar ballad 'Wantin Ain't Gettin' is all about falling in love with the idea of someone, rather than it being actualised, and her near angry chorus signifies that this one is from past experience. There is a certain amount of duality at play with this, as her sweet singing would make you think it's all whimsical, but something darker lies beneath. Like a tidier version of Cat Le Bon, hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. - SJ
