ELDERBROOK WOMAN

Self-proclaimed lover of “bounce”, Elderbrook, is back with another elastic production that’s full of spring synths, funk-rooted beats and agile, chopped vocals samples resulting in the flawless ‘Woman’. It’s the first listen from Alexander Kotz’s seven-track Talking EP, due out this September, and suggests that world of wistful lyrics, falsetto tones and intricately layered sounds. Speaking about this unique approach to songwriting and production, the London-based Kotz explains that "phonetics are as important as lyrics. My voice adds another percussive element to the sounds." Listening closely, you can hear many uses of his voice as something more than a vector for lyrics and it’s something that really does set his music apart from other electronic musicians right now. - HT
