DUA LIPA LAST DANCE

The race for the next big UK pop obsession is on: Years & Years set the tone in 2015 and this year feels wide open with the likes of Mabel, Alessia Cara and Anne-Marie all appearing with increasingly infectious electronic, radio-ready pop. It is, however, hard to argue against Dua Lipa being the leading light in this world. We’ve been watching her development very carefully since she appeared with the Emile Haynie-produced, and suitably entitled “New Love”, back in August. The flawless “Be The One” followed, and her intentions were made extremely clear. Her latest, set for release 25th March ahead of a headline show at London’s Heaven on 31st March, proves she is showing no sign of letting her lead slip: once again her seductive vocal oozes with building power towards her most dancefloor chorus yet, as sampled backing vocals provide the basis for the earworm refrain. This is clearly far from being the “Last Dance” for Dua Lipa - the mainstream awaits. -G.O'B
