DRUGDEALER (FEAT. WEYES BLOOD) HONEY

L.A.-based songwriter Michael Collins (previously known as Salvia Plath & Run DMT) is due to release his second album under another potentially-problematic new moniker, Drugdealer. Raw Honey, which will arrive on the 19th of April via American tastemaker label Mexican Summer, was mixed by wonky-pop king Mac Demarco and features a series of intriguing musical contributions. 'Honey' is one of these, featuring the buttery-smooth vocal tones of Collins' frequent collaborator Natalie Mering (pka Weyes Blood). Ranking highly in nostalgia, 'Honey' sounds like it could be plucked straight from the 70s. With its muted yet groovy bass line, delicate drumming, and careful acoustic guitar strums, 'Honey' wouldn't sound out of place in Fleetwood Mac's back catalogue, whilst a steady flow of bendy, Connan Mockasin-esque guitar solos provide a more modern edge. -Holly Mullineaux
