DRUG STORE ROMEOS FRAME OF REFERENCE

Picking up the pace from their slow-burning, trip-hop inspired debut outing 'Now Your Moving', Fleet ex-pats Drug Store Romeos have marked their move to the Big Smoke with a novel new tune. Propelled by a frantic Casio drum machine, charming fills and all, 'Frame Of Reference' plays out like a surreal collaboration between Mazzy Star and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. Shimmering serenely over a fuzzy set of organ chords, singer/bassist Sarah Downie's vocals are soft and sweet as chorus-drenched bass and ambient guitar parts pierce their way through an intricate pre-programmed synth pattern. Explaining the shift in tempo the band said: “We love dancing at our shows and felt that our set was lacking that. The goal was to make something that felt minimalist whilst being quite full and encompassing.” Listen here now and/or catch Drug Store Romeos live on tour with fellow TMR faves The Orielles next month. -Holly Mullineaux
