DOMINIC WOLF 4 A.M.

Dominic Wolf makes his first appearance here at TMR with ‘4 A.M.’, a tantalizing piece of woozy experimentalism that was stitched together at Wolf’s home studio in Bethnal Green. Over the past year, this one-man-band has spent his time building a collection of organic sounds and samples, which includes salt and pepper shakers, sesame seeds, an old popcorn box, and even that swooshing sound from spray-on deodorant. Dominic Wolf’s approach to music creation recalls a T. S. Eliot quote, “when a poet’s mind is perfectly equipped for its work, it is constantly amalgamating disparate experience.” For Wolf, he finds music in everything, even the most mundane of objects, although you can also find him using more typical instruments like piano, drums, and his somnambulist vocal throughout this track. The sleepy tones and textures of ‘4 A.M.’ transports the listener to those early insomniac hours, one where you may be “lost between the thoughts and the vision of a dream.” - Hannah Thacker
