DIZZY SWIM

In December, you have to be grateful for those artists who save you from the deluge of holiday music with a new release that casts off the seasonal pressures to relieve listeners. Right now, we’re thanking Canadian band Dizzy with their new dream-pop single ‘Swim’, paired with a music video directed by Ryan Faist. Setting the mood with angelic synths, Dizzy’s magnetic frontwoman introduces her delightful vocal to the track - “sink to the bottom, only to end up belly up” - as she steps out from behind the wheel with her morphsuited driving companion. Seemingly lost in her own world, Katie Munshaw swims through her thoughts, surrounded by dancing figures and the other three-quarters of the band, brothers and musicians Charlie, Alex and Mackenzie Spencer. Penning songs about growing up in suburban Ontario, ‘Swim’ is reminiscent of dreamy bands like Men I Trust and Yumi Zouma, Dizzy can certainly hold their own in this much-loved genre. - HT
