Denzel Himself collaborates with KEYAH/BLU in new single 'Birdie'. Denzel, the outer-Londoner, is known for his gothic, hardcore take on hip hop. The ex-film schooler releases self-produced music and self-directed videos carving a distinct aesthetic and sound of his own. His collaborator KEYAH/BLU originates from South East London. An artist in her own right, she raps and sings with an authentic tenderness, paired with certain slinky London edge. 'Birdie' has constancy in production style, with hefty hip hop beats, deep, fuzzy bass noise and a persistent high synth siren which all constantly drive the track forward. It's gritty and full of attitude. The two rapper's styles juxtapose - Denzel raps and sings with a slackness, but also an open-mouthed clarity, whereas BLU raps with more urgency, lyrical sharpness and darkness in her speech.
