THE DEATH OF POP 700 SPAS

The new one from Dorest-based dreamers The Death of Pop covers a hell of a lot of ground in its ambitious 2 minute 10 timeframe. The self-produced spectacle spirals wildly between sped-up dream pop, rampant krautrock and whimsical psychedelia, proving itself to be the quartet's most exciting and experimental effort to date. Discussing the track singer Angus explained, “'700 Spas' is inspired by a spelling error that I saw a student at school make. I started to consider how isolating it would be if you struggled with communication. The song is about knowing everyone around you is leaving you behind but being powerless to understand why or do anything about it.” '700 Spas' is the first taste from The Death of Pop's forthcoming EP Heads West, which will arrive next month via Bristol tastemakers Leisure Records. -HLMX
