DARLIA BEAM ME UP

A few weeks ago, we introduced you to Blackpool's Darlia and their cathartic single ‘Beam Me Up’. Speaking about the track, frontman Nathan Day spoke about the fear of releasing a song so closely related to his own thoughts and feelings. “It's like walking around with a sign on your head telling everyone what you're secretly thinking but never actually saying the words in conversation,” he said. Some people may describe this as feeling like an alien, as though what you’re going through is atypical, but what Darlia do here in their music video is switch this imagery. Coming out of the haze on a swirling TV monitor is a rather unfortunate person, who it turns out has been abducted by aliens. It’s certainly an attention grabbing video and shows to general consensus that talking and by extension singing about mental health is vital in our current society. You don’t need to be able to afford a therapist to listen to, watch and find camaraderie in Darlia’s ‘Beam Me Up’. - HT
