DAN LYONS BIARRITZ FT. CLéMENCE QUéLENNEC

Pricking our ears with his melancholy ballad 'Gargoyle' in August of last year, Margate-based songwriter Dan Lyons has made a whimsical return with his ever-so-slightly sinister ode to France - 'Biarritz'. Steeped in character, the track features gossamer backing vocals by the wonderful Clémence Quélennec (La Femme) as well as a slowed-down can-can-inspired swagger, that sounds a bit like the result of too many cigarettes and glasses of red wine. Bringing us firmly back to Blighty, Lyons' gritty lyrics tell the story of a holiday romance gone wrong. Watch the suitably French video directed by Lucile Brizard here now. -Holly Mullineaux
