DAMA SCOUT SUGAR

Following up on their recent single ‘Suzie Wong’, the Glasgow-London band Dama Scout continue to flesh out their upcoming EP with ‘Sugar’. Inspired by the ‘00s TV series ‘Adam and Joe Go Tokyo’, the trio pay homage to the enthralling performances, chaotic sounds and knack for melodies showcased by the bands featured in the now defunct BBC programme. As the band state, “It is a simple song with moments of bedlam interjected throughout. We enjoy juxtapositions like 'sugary' sweet melodies over slightly disconcerting music. 'Sugar' is our humble attempt to recreate the unusual mix of music crammed into a short space of time akin to the Japanese bands that inspired it." The song’s riot grrrl aesthetic of sweet melodies at loggerheads with thrashing guitars, fuzzy speakers and unrelenting drums makes this a thoroughly enjoyable nugget of romantic noise. Dama Scout’s EP is set to make an appearance in November via Hand In Hive, with their first headline show also lined up for November 16th at London’s The Waiting Room. - HT
