‘You Want It Bad’ is another tempting slow jam from London band Club Kuru, led by psychedelic crooner Laurie Erskine. With a similar production feel and 70s style to preceding release ‘Double L’, ‘You Want It Bad’ is its horizontal cousin; it ain't getting up from its lo-fi, downtempo comfort for no one. The only option for the listener is to give in, to lay down with those lazy grooves and limp-wristed drum slaps, and close your eyes to the lullaby melody of Erskine’s warbling voice. The spacey guitars, hallucinatory melody and repeated rhythm seem to stretch on infinitely, ensuring the listener loses all sense of time over the long three minutes and twenty-four seconds. - HT
